La Compagnie - flatiron NEW YORK
6 W 24 St - New York 10010
july 2024
The team wanted to pay tribute to wine, to the land, but also to all the elements and natural events that allow its development : the harvests, the sun, the moon, the earth, the minerals ....
We kept from the previous place the brick, typical of New York, as well as the wooden floor, to which we brought more materials, more light: straw, lime, walnut burl, leather, marble, foliage, ceramic, embroidery.
The moon orbits both on the fabrics, in imprint on the lime but also in the alabaster which imitates its surface so well.
Clovis Retif, a French artist came to draw on the fabrics of the benches, strong symbols of the earth and wine, but also of the city of New York.
The marble, leather and bronze counter is divided into three parts, the central part of which becomes a table d'hôtes. Customers thus fully invest the bar and mingle with the teams busy preparing plates, cutting ham and filling glasses.
Individual tables with integrated ice buckets, in green marble, bronze and walnut, round tables with rotating tops, communal tables, as well as a large central piece of furniture that showcases the large wine book, in which the answer to the mystery wine of the day is inevitably hidden !
Client : Experimental Group
Interior Architecture + Design : Dorothee Meilichzon
Graphic Design + hand painting : Clovis Retif
